Yadkin County Emergency Services has been awarded the American Heart Association Mission LifelineEMS Gold Plus Award. The AMA Mission: Lifeline program helps increase efficiency and reduce barriers to prompt treatment for heart attacks at all levels of care; from the initial 9-1-1 call, EMS transport and continuing through hospital treatment and discharge.
This award recognizes Yadkin County Emergency Service’s commitment and success in implementing a high standard of care by ensuring that patients receive treatment in accordance with national recommendations and standards.
Assistant Director of Emergency Services Chris Bolden explained, “This recognition shows that our paramedics are able to promptly identify a heart attack in the field and that they are able to properly treat those medical emergencies with the highest standard of care.”
Heart attacks have increasingly become more and more common across the United States, including Yadkin County. Because of this, first responders are working to become more proficient in recognizing and treating patients suffering from heart attacks.
“When someone calls 911 for an ambulance, one of the things we look for when we get on scene are signs of a heart attack. This can be tricky because our EMS employees have to sometimes identify this with very little information. Luckily our EMS service is well equipped and trained so that our EMT’s and paramedics working out there, answering these calls, are able to identify these medical emergencies and have been able to treat and transport these patients to a cardiac capable hospital quickly,” Bolden said.
The dedication to providing optimal care for heart attack patients by Yadkin County Emergency Services helps to give all patients the best chance of survival. Yadkin County Emergency Services is now a member of an elite group of agencies recognized by the American Heart Association for outstanding care.
Yadkin County Emergency Services is currently hiring. Bolden said he has been very proud of the service all employees have been providing.
“Like many other professions, EMS all over the state, and country, is struggling to find people right now. We’ve been working very hard to staff our EMS units so I know our employees are working extra hard to make sure our citizens get the best care possible, and again, this award shows that,” Bolden added. “I hope more people think about getting into this field, there are a lot of opportunities to do so right now.”
Bolden does ask any credentialed EMT’s or Paramedics to look into the agency and consider joining.
“We’re offering a lot of great benefits, competitive pay, and we’re continuously working to improve our agency. If anyone is interested, I encourage them to take a look at our EMS page on the Yadkin County Website by going to www.yadkincountync.gov, and submit an online application.”
