Timelapse footage captured Oct. 1 showed a plume of smoke from the Cumbre Vieja volcano on La Palma island in Spain creating a ripple effect in the clouds above the mountain. According to the Izana Atmospheric Research Center (AEMET), the ripples were due to temperature inversion.
