The first puppy among 200 dogs rescued from a raided farm has now been rehomed.
Hope Rescue in Pontyclun shared the good news of Ripple, now named Elsi, and her adoption to their Facebook page over the weekend.
At the time of writing, less than 24 hours after being posted, Elsi’s news has attracted an incredible 1.6K likes.
The post read: “The first of our puppy farm dogs Ripple has now found her forever home and she didn’t have to look very far!
“Ripple now Elsi arrived at just the right time as her new family are one of our long term foster homes and they had been specifically looking for a cocker spaniel to adopt so they took Elsi on foster with a view to adopt but of course it didn’t take them long to fall head over heels.
“Here she is with her new brother Tomi, formally Nemo, who was also adopted last year.”
Of course, Facebook users were quick off the mark to flood the comment section with celebration and positive messages.
One comment read: “Must think she is in heaven. So pleased”
A second rejoiced: “Amazing news, I (have) been following this story since I heard about it, Elsi looks super happy with her new brother…. a beautiful ending to a sad story.”
While a third added: “Start of a new life for you now Elsi, full of love.”
The rest of the comment section was saturated with colourful heart emojis as members of the community sent their best wishes for Elsi’s fresh start as well as gratitude to Hope Rescue for giving her a second chance.
Lyndsey from Hope Rescue told TeamDogs : “Ripple came into our care from a puppy farm, she was housed with several other dogs in crowded unsanitary conditions. Due to the lack of positive experiences with humans it left the majority of the dogs extremely fearful of any human interaction.
“Thankfully we have a wonderful team of foster carers that were ready and waiting to offer placements for several of the dogs.
“One of our longstanding foster carers, Nichola, had been on the search for another dog to adopt for a while since adopting their foster dog Tomi last year.
“Although they have continued to foster, they felt he needed a permanent canine friend.”
There are still a number of Elsi’s fellow rescues who are still adapting to their new surroundings until they are ready for adoption themselves.
Lyndsey added: “All of the dogs that were rescued from the puppy farm really rely on one another for comfort, two dogs that were found at the property together were Kit Kat and Kinder, two Labradors both aged two-years-old so we will be looking for a home for them together.
“One of the more nervous dogs from the property, Poppet, is also still looking for her forever home. She is a three-year-old Cocker Spaniel. Due to her worried nature, she will need patient owners who will give her the time and space she needs to adjust in her own time.
“Due to their history, many of these dogs have never lived in a home situation before so things we take for granted such as the noise of the washing machine or the television are all brand new to these dogs so they really do need to be introduced to new things very slowly so as not to overwhelm them.”
Kit Kat and Kinder are ready and waiting eagerly for adoption, as is the lovely Poppet. Twirl and Dolly are not quite ready for re-homing yet but will be as soon as they’ve completely re-adjusted, so keep your eyes peeled on Hope Rescue’s Facebook page for any updates.
