TAKES A STAND AS GHANA PREPARES LAW CRIMINALIZING LGBTQ+ ADVOCACY: Last Thursday, independent experts affiliated with the U.N.’s Human Rights Council referred to Ghana’s draft legislation as “a system of state-sponsored discrimination and violence” in a letter to the country’s U.N. mission. If signed into law by President Nana Akufo-Addo, the bill would strengthen the existing penalties for same-sex activity and punish LGBTQ+ advocacy with up to 10 years in prison. More from them.
IT COULD SOON BE A LOT EASIER TO CORRECT YOUR LEGAL GENDER IN NEW ZEALAND: New Zealand’s parliament is one step closer to passing a bill that would make it easier for trans people to change the gender listed on their birth certificates.
