Now, to today’s news…
Western U.S. wildfire response
The wildfires in Oregon and other Western states are so severe that V Teamers as far away as New Jersey saw the haze on Wednesday evening. As always, the Verizon Response Team (VRT) is on the scene.
Verizon Frontline technology has been delivered to more than 70 locations by the VRT to help enable mission-critical communications in remote areas. Verizon Frontline is our advanced network and technology built for first responders, developed over three decades of partnership with the public safety community. The VRT is supporting, or has supported, interagency wildland fire management teams in their efforts to combat fires in 15 states.
Our thanks to VRT and the first responders who continue to battle these blazes as we enter the peak of the wildfire season.
Support VtoV
Speaking of running to a crisis, you can help V Teamers in need by donating to the VtoV Employee Relief Fund. Supported by your donations, the fund helps employees displaced from their homes because of natural disasters, fires or as a result of domestic violence. Learn more and donate.
Latest TV spot
Chief Marketing Officer Diego Scotti reminded us that ‒ no matter what the competition claims ‒ there is only one best network in America and that’s Verizon. To help broadcast that message, he shared our newest spot, which highlights our recent network wins.
New planet-friendly packaging
We’re introducing new packaging for our in-store accessories with some great new features. For starters, it’s 100% ready for recycling. The boxes and its components are made with 100% post-consumer waste paper, and the updates have reduced CO2 emissions by 22%.
In addition, each purchase helps meet Verizon’s goal for this year of planting a tree for each qualifying accessory sold, up to 1 million trees. The purchase supports our Citizen Verizon commitment to climate protection. As for our accessories, many of our products are now made with 50% recycled plastics or sustainable plant-based materials and some provide a limited lifetime warranty.
Mental health discussion
Our Employee Resource Group Advance held an event last week on the intersectionality between mental health and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color). Check out the replay to hear this meaningful conversation in its entirety.
American with Disabilities day
This Monday, July 26, marks the 31st anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Check out this list of all of the related resources and Disability Pride month events taking place.
