TULSA, Okla. (KOKI) — Tulsa Dream Center executive director Tim Newton, says they are raising money to build a new community pool and splash pad in north Tulsa.
Newton says it’s a big deal because it will bring the first indoor community pool and splash pad north of 36th Street.
The goal is to teach kids how to swim and bring the community together.
Newton says the idea of the project started a year ago and that it will cost $2 million. So far, he says they have raised almost $1 million.
They have a few designs they are choosing from but they are reaching out to the community to help raise more money.
Newton says it’s all apart of a ‘ripple effect’ project. After the pool and splash pad is built, they are going to add a new gym and convert the current gym into more classrooms and office space to serve more children.
