Earlier, we reported that Nvidia is planning to launch its new CMP card based on its flagship Ampere A100 GPU for cryptocurrency mining. It is stated that the GPU was said to become the most powerful mining chip ever made.
Though we didn’t get any specifications or performance numbers within mining algorithms, the latest rumour from I_Leak_VN seems to highlight a few key details about the pure mining monster.
According to the latest rumours, the Ampere A100 GPU will feature in the NVIDIA CMP 220HX crypto mining card. Though NVIDIA CMP 220HX is not confirmed yet, we now know that the card will feature an Ethereum mining hash rate of around 210 MH/s. This is almost twice the mining performance of the GeForce RTX 3090.
Reports have indicated that the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 earns you a daily income of around $11 US, which can be maximized to $13-$14 US with a tuned configuration. The GeForce RTX 3090, on the other hand, has an MSRP of $1499 US and is currently available at around $2500-$4000 US.
However, the NVIDIA CMP 220HX, on the other hand, is rumoured to cost $3000 US and should deliver the same mining rate as the Ampere A100. The NVIDIA Ampere A100 GPU could do away with just 1 HBM2 die per stack for a total of 5 GB of memory while retaining the 5120-bit bus interface for a total bandwidth of 1.6 TB/s. The PCIe variant of the A100 reportedly has a TDP of 250W.
If the NVIDIA CMP 220HX is made available for $3000 US, it will certainly be one of the best mining products in the market. But, still, all these specifications are all but rumours. Let’s wait for some more information when it comes out.
