One-stop early voting for the Yadkinville municipal election has been underway since Oct. 14 in the Planning, Permitting and Elections building in Yadkinville. Election day is Nov. 2 and the polling site will be at Yadkinville Elementary School from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
As of Monday afternoon, Yadkin County Board of Elections Director Elaine Barnes reported that 10 votes had already been cast at the one-stop location.
Candidates for the Yadkinville municipal election are incumbents Mayor Eddie Norman and Town Commissioners Scott Winebarger and Chris Matthews.
There are 1,492 registered voters in the town of Yadkinville. Election officials anticipate this election will see a low turnout as they are few candidates, all of whom are incumbents, on the ballot. Elected officials for the town said they do hope that voters will come out to support them.
In a statement to The Yadkin Ripple, Commissioner Scott Winebarger said he would like to thank the citizens of Yadkinville for “trusting him to serve.”
“I am excited about the opportunity for continued service in this wonderful community,” Winebarger said. “I am optimistic and hopeful for the future of our town as we continue to search for opportunities of growth and prosperity. We have a good group of leaders who are ready and willing to work hard to meet the needs of this community, and will strive to make a positive difference in the town of Yadkinville.”
“As a Town Commissioner, I pledge to work with and for the individuals and businesses that make their home in Yadkinville, and I will continue to serve with purpose for the good of a city we all love,” he added.
