CHICAGO – The rise of David Dastmalchian is going into the stratosphere in 2021. The actor, with roots in Chicago theater, opened this weekend (8/6/21) in the film “The Suicide Squad” as the melancholic Polka-Dot Man, and will be featured later in the year in the highly anticipated new film version of “Dune.” His comic book roots have distinct credibility, as he also helped to create the Dark Horse Comics series ”Count Crowley”, which recently was green-lit for a second series. !—break—>
The characters of David Dastmalchian exist in both the Marvel Studios films and the DC Universe. He achieved blockbuster notoriety as the Russian Kurt, part of the “Antourage” in the Marvel Universe “Ant-Man” films, and has appeared in the DC series on the CW, “The Flash,” as the villain Abra Kadabra.

Dastmalchian also has an independent film partnership with director Collin Schiffli, featured in the award winning “Animals” (2014) and “All Creatures Here Below” (2018). On TV, he has a recurring role on the rebooted “Macgyver” as Murdoc, and recently was in the Hulu series “Reprisal.” As mentioned, he will appear in October in the new film version of author Frank Herbert’s “Dune,” directed by Denis Villeneuve.
