Chinese cryptocurrency mining rig maker Bitmain has partnered with Enegix, which runs one of the biggest crypto mining data centers in Kazakhstan, to host its Antminer machines in the Central Asian nation.

Fast facts

  • Bitmain said in a statement on Friday that it had joined hands with Enegix, a data center operator in Kazakhstan, to host Antminer S19 Pros in the latter’s 180 megawatt facility.
  • Last year, Enegix launched a 180 MW mining data center with capacity for more than 50,000 mining rigs, according to the statement.
  • “Enegix is a clear leader in design and operation of large-scale mining facilities. Their success over the years has put them on the map for all major bitcoin miners,” a Bitmain mining division vice president said in the statement.
  • Just last month, U.S. crypto mining firm Wattum reached an agreement with Enegix to build a 16 MW facility in Kazakhstan, a commitment worth US$2 million. The two companies were also discussing adding another 50 MW facility in an investment that would be worth US$8 million.
  • Dmitriy Ivanov, a sales director at Enegix, told Forkast.News last month that Enegix was preparing to scale up amid increasing demand for its services, and that it was in talks with some companies — mostly from China — to invest jointly in building new mining facilities in four locations in Kazakhstan. The data centers would have capacities of 50, 70, 100 and 100 MW, respectively, he said.
  • Bitmain is also helping its clients to move their operations out of China. Last month, it called a meeting of crypto mining businesses in Chengdu, the capital of the southwestern province of Sichuan, and said that it was rolling out a “hub” service that could shorten the time required for overseas repairs from three weeks to as little as four days, according to a statement.
