Chocolate cake lovers have been caught up in the dramatic news that Marks and Spencer has launched a lawsuit against Aldi over its Colin the Caterpillar style cake.
M&S thinks Aldi’s Cuthbert is too similar to Colin, and has lodged an intellectual property claim with the High Court.
This doesn’t have much to do with the lovely polka dot spring dress that M&S shared on its Instagram account, but fans are so distracted by the Aldi controversy they’ve barely even commented on the outfit.
Marks and Spencer posted the photo in the midst of the sunny and warm weekend we’ve just had, tempting shoppers to a new outfit to wear now we can finally see our friends and families after lockdown.
The model is posing in the pretty black and white midi dress in front of a sunshine yellow front door, and she’s paired the dress with some cute black chunky sandals and a laid back hairstyle.
While M&S shoppers usually flood the Instagram comments to say how beautiful the clothes are, this time they’re more interested in the Colin/Cuthbert feud.
“I swear I saw something similar in Aldi’s Specialbuys…” one shopper joked.
“FREE CUTHBERT,” another protested.
“They’ve fallen out with my fave shop over a caterpillar,” another said.
Some shoppers are still showing the love for the dress despite the Aldi controversy.
“This is gorgeous,” said one fan.
“It’s lovely,” said another.
