The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are continuing to create a conversation around the importance of mental health.
On Friday, the royal couple shared a clip of a recent video chat they had with a family who utilized the Shout 85258 mental health hotline, a confidential phone service that provides help and assistance for those who may be struggling with their emotional or mental health. For the virtual call, Duchess Kate wore a prim, black and white, polka dot blouse with her hair pulled back in a chic half ponytail and silver double hoop earrings. Prince William stuck to his signature preppy look, wearing a mint green knit sweater layered over an oxford button up as he and his wife listened intently to the family on the other line.

During the conversation, William and Kate listened to a family who recalled their own experiencing needing to utilize the hotline for their 12-year-old son who experienced his own mental health crisis. Shout 85258 also offers text messaging support for those who may be dealing with issues such as anxiety, self-harm, or thoughts of suicide. The service has since helped 265,000 people who have texted in for guidance. It also recently received a £2 million (over $2.7 million) grant from the Royal Foundation and the Heads Together campaign, which was originally created by Prince William, Duchess Kate, and Prince Harry.
“This service is doing exactly what we hoped it would, which is be there for families in crisis,” said Prince William during the conversation. “It’s nice to be able to speak to you directly and hear about what has gone on here, how it has helped you, and really what it has done.”
